The
artist Maria Ceppi draped five curtains inside the display cases of
the exhibition venue ZONE 30 in the city of Siders. This act of
concealment highlights the interface between public and private: the
window. The window is the bridge that allows us to see what lies
within, but when covered up they preserve the intimacy of that inner
space. Maria Ceppi chose six different curtains, from a thick fabric
curtain in an orange and brown motif from the 1970s to a beige tulle
curtain and modern plastic roller blind. The curtains turn the role
of the display cases on its head. They go from being windows for
people to look through and displays to be viewed, to a barrier that
makes it hard, even blocks the view to the inside.
