Tourbillon de la Vie

2014
Installation, Mixed Media
Triennale d’Art Contemporain/Zeitgenössische Kunst Valais/Wallis 2014, Centre d’expositions, Musées d’Art, Sion, CH

The creation of the first multi-media installation on the subject of prison/neighbourhood, designed to create a connection from the outside to the inside, from the outer walls of the prison yard to the prison building. In the former prison yard, the pots of geraniums are positioned in regimental lines running radially towards the wall of the building, converging like the rays of the sun to a central point at the reception house. This layout is a reflection of the grid formed by the lattice structures in front of the prison windows. The installation "Tourbillon de la Vie" redefines the time and space of the old prison, "Ancien Pénitencier". The installation creates a spatial bridge through the geraniums. They "domesticate" the courtyard and buildings and allow the viewer to transcend fixed structures.
